Community & Learning

TOGETHER, we are the music …

IMPACTING THOUSANDS

Our broad platform of free music education initiatives are accessible to all. By investing in our community, we hope to foster the next generation of classical music lovers and future musicians of The Santa Fe Symphony!

EXPANDING HORIZONS

Our community engagement programs are growing! The Symphony Chamber Ensemble has gone on tour, performing free concerts in local Pueblo communities and participating in the cultural exchange of music and the arts in Northern New Mexico.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

With your support we are fostering extraordinary artistic talent and uniting our community. Our Music Education Committee is especially proud to revitalize our ticket offerings for students and music educators offered for every 2022–2023 performance.

Support our community and learning programs by becoming a Friend of Music Education. You can earmark your contribution for a specific Music Education Committee community program, such as Mentoring or Senior Serenades, or help support all our community programs by contributing to Friends of Music Education.

Thank you for helping us share the beauty of orchestral and choral music! With your support we have launched four new programs this season!

NEW!Pueblo Concerts

Pueblo Concerts

Our Chamber Ensembles are going ontour and taking great music beyond the Kids Classical Concerts to include Pueblo and other Northern New Mexico communities—providing hour-long education concerts not only to Santa Fe Public Schools but beyond!

NEWSymphony Del Sur

Symphony Del Sur

Our Chamber Ensembles perform in a variety of community settings, including local schools, retirement homes and assisted living facilities, and this year—Santa Fe Farmer’s Market del Sur, a collaboration with the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association.

NEWChoral Scholars

Choral Scholars Program

Do you know a high school student who loves to sing? Be sure to sign up for our new apprentice program. This season we are offering positions to a limited number of high school choral singers to join The Symphony Chorus!

NEWConcerto Competition

Concerto Competition

We’ve added a concerto competition for outstanding high school and higher education music students throughout the state of New Mexico, offering them a chance to perform with The Symphony and win a cash prize to further their music education.

If you would like to support any of our initiatives or learn more about The Santa Fe Symphony’s community and learning programs, or to sign up for free or discounted ticket offers, please contact our Education Manager, Alexis Corbin, at acorbin@santafesymphony.org or call 505.983.3530.

Discovery Concerts

Discovery Concerts

The Symphony introduces over 1,500 fourth graders to the wonder of symphonic music through its annual bilingual Discovery Concerts!
Each fall, students are bused from Santa Fe, Pojoaque, Española, and Pueblo schools to The Lensic for a full orchestral concert featuring a bilingual storyteller and numerous community partnerships!

Senior Serenades

Senior Serenades

For seniors who aren’t able to attend concerts at The Lensic, The Symphony brings the music to their place of residence. Small group ensembles present informal concerts with a variety of music that touches residents enjoying an active senior lifestyle or those in assisted living or memory care.

Family Concerts

Family Concerts

Join us at the Santa Fe Public Library’s Southside Branch for a family-friendly series with Symphony musicians demonstrating their instruments and playing a variety of popular and classical music, fostering a connection with children and providing a chance for them to conduct the ensemble! Geared toward kids ages 5 to 10, but all ages are welcome!

Kids Classical Concerts

Kids Classical Concerts

Each year, Symphony ensembles visit elementary students at 9 Santa Fe Public Schools for an hour of music, education, and fun. They demonstrate each of their instruments, play a variety of music, popular and classical, fostering a lively interaction in which students are even given a chance to conduct!
