Daniel Nebel, Principal Horn

Dr. Daniel Nebel grew up in New Mexico and is currently a freelance multi-instrumentalist and educator based in Colorado.

Nebel completed his Doctor of Music at the University of Northern Colorado with an emphasis in Sports and Exercise Science in 2023. His dissertation, Establishing Guidelines for Achieving Optimal Individual Posture in Hornists, combines his experience of resolving chronic low back pain through Alexander Technique and Body Mapping with a detailed health survey of hornists and original electromyography and movement research.

Nebel also holds degrees in music from Wichita State University and the Eastman School of Music.

He teaches horn at Colorado State University Pueblo, performs principal horn with the Monterey Symphony (CA), freelances throughout the Western United States, and is the music director at Smoky Hill United Methodist Church. He previously served as a bandsman in the United States Air Force and has held positions with North State Symphony, Wichita Symphony Orchestra, and Wichita Grand Opera.

Nebel is a yoga instructor as well as a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Association of Sports Medicine. He enjoys hiking, skiing, and cycling with his wife Erin when not performing or teaching.
