Andrew Turner, Tenor
Andrew Turner finished his 2021-2022 Season with Pittsburgh Opera as a Resident Artist. His roles included First Priest/ First Armored Man in The Magic Flute, The Beloved/Horus in The Rose Elf, Policeman/Ambrose Raines in the world premiere of In a Grove, Remendado in Carmen and Policeman/Buddy #1 in Blue. This Summer, he will be joining The Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Artist, singing the role of Agent 2 in M. Butterfly and covering the role of Bardolfo in Falstaff.
In 2021, Mr. Turner finished his second season at Des Moines Metro Opera as an apprentice artist performing the role of Tchaplitsky in The Queen of Spades and covering the role of Tobias Raggs in Sweeney Todd. In 2019, he made his debut as Parpignol in DMMO’s production in La Boheme.
Other engagements included his role debut as Boy 1 in Trouble in Tahiti with Virginia Opera, Tamino in The Magic Flute with Opera Iowa, touring performances as Ranger Dudley in Little Red’s Most Unusual Day and The Prince in The Littlest Mermaid, and concert appearances as the tenor soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Vivaldi’s Lord Nelson Mass with the Berkeley Community Chorus and Orchestra.
In musical theater, Turner has performed a wide span of engagements. He was featured as a special guest with composer and creator Allen René Louis in his virtual production of The Music of Allen René Louis: Musical Theater Edition, Invited as a guest artist to sing with Nathan and Julie Gunn in their concert Nathan and Julie Gunn and Friends: an Evening of Broadway and recently seen as a guest artist in Broadway at the Gardens with The Dunes Summer Theatre under the direction of Steve Scott. Turner has portrayed roles of Man 1 in Jason Robert Brown’s Songs for a New World, Uncle Fester in The Addams Family, Frederick Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein and was featured in Revues of Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Kander and Ebb.
