ABOUT DOUG

Doug Montgomery is the entertainment jewel of Santa Fe, New Mexico.  He has been called “gifted,” “best in the world at what he does” and “the finest pianist” by mega fans like champion sportsman Arnold Palmer, Grammy winner Susan Graham and Broadway luminary Michael Feinstein.  From Chopin to Standards, Bach to Broadway, the Beatles and Michael Buble’, Doug shines with his ability to capture a song’s soul and his inspired lyrical interpretations.

Born and raised in Chicago, this engaging artist walked into a music class at age 10 and fell hopelessly in love with a baby grand piano and the thousand different ways it could communicate. A Bachelor’s degree in music from Northwestern University and a Masters from iconic Juilliard were quickly followed by a slew of prestigious awards. And then his real education began.

It’s almost time! This weekend we are resurrecting one of The Symphony’s most popular annual events as part of our 40 Years | 40 Events. In celebration of our 40th Anniversary, Santa Fe legend Doug Montgomery will lead us into a beautiful evening of song this Saturday night at Rio Chama Prime Steakhouse with beloved piano works from The George and Ira Gershwin Songbook, favorites by Frank Sinatra, Cole Porter, and more. And in celebration of George Gershwin’s 100 Year Anniversary, attendees will enjoy a very special solo performance of Rhapsody in Blue, a made-in-heaven marriage of jazz and classical idioms.
