Hirsch - 2026 Gala Chairs

Shirley Melis Hirsch is a longtime business writer, travel writer, and newspaper columnist who traveled much of the world before launching a career in public relations. She is the author of an award-winning memoir, Banged-Up Heart: Dancing with Love and Loss. Currently, she is president of her Vassar College class and serves on the board of the New Mexico Book Association of which she is Immediate Past President. An avid supporter of The Symphony, she was serving on the Events Committee when COVID cancelled the 36th Season Gala.

Frank Hirsch served on The Santa Fe Symphony Board of Directors from 2015-2021. In 2017, at a pivotal time, he stepped up to become Board President and shepherded the organization along the path toward what it has become today. For several months during his presidency, he also served as Executive Director. Frank’s leadership, dedication, and unstinting passion for The Symphony are noteworthy. His business acumen, managerial experience, and nonprofit board experiences in Chicago helped prime the organization for growth. He now serves on The Symphony’s Honorary Council, along with Ann Neuberger Aceves, Founding President Emerita of the Symphony’s endowment.
